Leaked iPhone 14 Pro CAD renders show a familiar design

As Apple begins preparing mass production for the upcoming iPhone 14 series, the iPhone 14 Pro CAD renders have leaked in full, showing a very similar design to the iPhone 13 Pro.

As we’ve previously reported, the renders show the Apple iPhone 14 Pro will completely ditch the notch, instead opting for a pill-shaped cutout for the Face ID and ambient sensors, and a secondary round cutout for the selfie camera. The bezels around the phone will be completely symmetrical, however they still won’t be as thin as other flagship Android phones, such as the Oppo Find X5 Pro.

Although we haven’t seen CAD renders for the 3 other iPhone 14 models, we know from previous reports that only the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max will ditch the notch, with the regular Apple iPhone 14 and the new Apple iPhone 14 Plus keeping the same large notch from the iPhone 13. After poor sales with the iPhone 13 mini, there won’t be an iPhone 14 mini, with Apple discontinuing the line for the foreseeable future.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro camera bump

Unfortunately, it appears the large camera bump will remain a staple design feature. There were previous reports that the Pro models would completely ditch the camera bumps in exchange for a slighlight thicker phone. However, the new CAD renders show an identical camera bump to the iPhone 13 Pro, featuring a triple camera array, LiDAR sensor and LED flash. The leak also states the main camera for the iPhone 14 Pro will be upgraded to a 48MP sensor, which we assume is the wide camera.

In addition to the familiar design, the display technology will also remain the same, featuring a 6.1 inch 120Hz ProMotion OLED panel. As the display on the iPhone 13 Pro is already best in class, we’re not too surprised to see Apple sticking with the same technology.

The leak also confirms previous reports that only the iPhone 14 Pro models will get the latest A16 chip, with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max featuring the same A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 series.

However, all models of the iPhone 14 are stated to have 6GB RAM. For the iPhone 13, only the Pro models had 6GB memory, with the regular and mini featuring 4GB memory. Apple have previously been stringy with memory, especially when compared to other phone manufacturers. With 6GB RAM, this puts the iPhone 14 in line with current Android flagship phones for the first time.

The Apple iPhone 14 is expected to be released in September 2022. We’ll be sure to show you the cheapest contract deals as soon as the phone arrives.
