The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is the ideal device for those looking for a phone with a large screen and great performance.
In terms of size, the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max is the closest iPhone competitor for the Samsung Galaxy S22+, with a near identical screen size and similar performance.
With a large 4500mAh battery, you can expect a full day of usage before requiring a charge.
Display
One of the standout features of the Samsung Galaxy S22+ is its enormous display. The 6.6 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel covers the entire front of the phone, with symmetrical, but minimal bezels. Samsung’s OLED technology is best in class, for vibrant images with over a billion colours. With a 120Hz refresh rate, scrolling appears effortless and smooth, and is perfectly ideal for gaming. The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is also one of the first phones to use Gorilla Glass Victus+ technology, for improved resistance against accidental damage.
Performance
The Galaxy S line is well known for its top of line performance, and the Samsung Galaxy S22+ is certainly no different. With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, the flagship phone is one of the first to feature Qualcomm’s latest processor. Performance leaps have been made over the previous Snapdragon 888, making the Samsung Galaxy S22+ one of the fastest Android phones you can buy today.
Storage variants include 128GB and 256GB models, both of which have 8GB RAM. The large amount of memory is suitable for intensive multitasking workloads.
Camera
Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ have identical cameras. On the rear, there are a total of three cameras, including a 50MP wide camera, 10MP telephoto camera and 12MP ultrawide camera. Samsung claim to have not only made hardware improvements to the cameras, but also made significant leaps in its AI image processing algorithms. This should prove particularly effective in low light shots and with the latest 8K video recording capabilities. The Samsung Galaxy S21+ was already a fantastic camera, and yet Samsung have still managed to make additional improvements, resulting in a phone that can go head to head with the likes of the Apple iPhone 13 and Google Pixel 6.
The front features a 10MP selfie camera with dual pixel technology.
Operating System
The Samsung Galaxy S22+ ships with the latest Android 12. Samsung have recently promised that all their flagship phones will receive a minimum of 4 major Android updates, followed by an additional year of security updates. This should significantly extend the longevity of the S22+, meaning the final version the phone will receive is Android 16 (presumably in 2025).
Design
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S22+ improves upon the characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy S21+, for a more refined and polished look.
There's a new glass back, which replaces the previous plastic panel. The metallic finish gives off a pleasant, reflective look, which appears and feels like a premium device when compared to a painted plastic surface.
Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S21+, the S22+ is 5% smaller. To make the device more compact, Samsung have had to compromise with a slightly smaller battery (4000mAh vs 3700mAh) and a negligible reduction in the screen size (6.7 inch vs 6.6 inch)
Battery life
While the regular sized Samsung Galaxy S22 suffers from poor battery life, the S22+ fairs well, despite having the same power hungry Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and a reduction in capacity from the S21+ with 4800mAh to 4500mAh. The relatively large battery provides a good day of general usage, but don’t expect any more.
Colours

- Cream
- Graphite
- Green
- Phantom Black
- Pink Gold
