Samsung Galaxy A53 Deals

As the best selling series last year, the Samsung Galaxy A53 is a moderate upgrade to the Galaxy A52s, with more memory and improved battery life.

Pried at just £399, the Galaxy A53 faces tough competition from the new Apple iPhone SE (2022).

However, with an excellent camera, great battery life and 4 major Android updates throughout its lifetime, the Galaxy A53 is tough to beat, especially at such a low price.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 has the same display as its predecessor, the Galaxy A52s, with a 6.5 inch Super AMOLED panel, with 120Hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2400 resolution, for a moderate 405 ppi.

As expected, Samsung’s Super AMOLED panel is top of the line, the bright and vibrant colours. The panel technology is also similar to the display used in the flagship Samsung Galaxy S22.

Samsung have decided to switch to their own proprietary chip, with the Exynos 1280 processor. The previous A52s used the Snapdragon 778G.

According to benchmarks, the Galaxy A53 is actually 33% slower for multi-core performance than its predecessor. However, in real world usage, there’s unlikely to be a noticeable difference, especially given how fast the chip already is.

With an improved 2 days battery life, it’s possible Samsung switched to a less powerful chip at the expense of battery life.

Despite the low price tag, Samsung have equipped the Galaxy A53 with an impressive quad array camera, featuring a huge 64 MP wide camera, 12 MP ultrawide camera, 5 MP macro camera and 5 MP depth camera.

Samsung have also included their AI Image Enhancer technology, which they claim can improve image quality almost instantly. They also include a new range of Snapchat lenses with the Fun shooting mode.

The main wide camera is equipped with OIS for image stabilisation, which is capable of recording steady video and enhancing low light photos.

On the front, there's a single 32 MP selfie camera with a Portrait AI mode.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 will ship with Android 12, featuring One UI 4.1, for the latest features from the Galaxy S22.

Samsung have promised 4 major Android updates and 5 years of security updates, for a phone that will last you for years to come.

The design remains relatively unchanged from the Galaxy A52s. There are minimal bezels around the front of the phone, however they aren’t perfectly symmetrical, with the lower bezel appearing slightly larger.

Instead of a notch, Samsung have opted for a small cutout for the selfie camera, placed at the top middle of the display.

The rear of the Galaxy A53 is quite basic, with a rectangular camera bump that slightly protrudes.

The Galaxy A53 weighs 189g, with dimensions of 159.9mm x 75.1mm x 8.4mm.

Battery life

The standout feature of the Galaxy A53 is the impressive battery life, with Samsung promising 2 days of usage without a charge.

The battery size has been increased by 10%, from 4500mAh to 5000mAh.

There’s 25W fast charging, with a suitable charger and USB C cable in the box. Unfortunately, there’s still no Qi wireless charging.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 is available in 4 colours:

  • Awesome Black
  • Awesome White
  • Awesome Blue
  • Awesome Peach
