If you're looking for a phone with flagship performance without the price to match it, the Oppo Find X5 Lite may be the ideal phone for you.
The triple camera array with large 64 MP sensor takes great photos, with Oppo AI shooting modes for even more vibrant and sharp shots.
The large 4500mAh can be charged to 100% within 31 minutes thanks to 65W SUPERVOOC technology.
If you're looking for a step up, Oppo have two alternatives in the series with the Find X5 and Find X5 Pro.
Display
Unlike the curved displays on the Find X5 and Find X5 Pro, the display on the Find X5 Lite is flat, with a 6.43 inch AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate. The resolution remains very high at 1080 x 2400 pixels, with a respectable 409 ppi density.
In addition to Netflix HD and Amazon Prime Video HD Certification, the display is also SGS Eye Care approved, which Oppo claims reduces eye strain.
Performance
For the Lite edition, Oppo have switched away from Snapdragon to MediaTek, with a octa-core Dimensity 900 5G chip. The mid to high range chip rivals the Snapdragon 865 in terms of performance, and should be capable of running apps and games effortlessly.
As for memory and storage, Oppo will initially shop the Find X5 Lite in one variant, with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Generously, there’s a microSD slot for expandable storage up to 1TB.
Camera
Unlike its older brothers, the Find X5 Lite doesn’t feature Hasselblad tuning or branding. However, the hardware still remains impressive, featuring a triple camera array with a large 64 MP wide f/1.7 sensor, 8 MP ultrawide f/2.3 camera and 2 MP macro f/2.4 camera.
Oppo claims the camera can take DSLR-like portrait shots with its Portrait Pro mode, with adjustable aperture up to 25 levels. There are also various AI modes for improved image processing.
On the front, there’s a Sony module for the 32 MP selfie camera. With Oppo Smart Skin Tone Protection AI, selfies try to keep a natural look, without any unnecessary brightening.
Operating system
The Find X5 Lite will initially ship with ColorOS 12 (Android 11), with Oppo promising 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security updates.
Design
Although the cheapest of the Find X5 series, the Find X5 Lite has the most impressive finish on the rear. Oppo is using Laser Direct Imaging technology, from micro patterns across the back panel.
The ‘Startrails Blue’ is a beautiful iridescent finish, with an option for a shiny ‘Starry Black’ colour.
The device is also extremely thin at 7.81mm, weighing just 173g.
On the front, there’s a slight chin bezel at the bottom, which looks disproportionate compared to the top bezel. However, there’s no notch, instead Oppo opting for a round cutout at the top left of the display.
Battery life
The Find X5 Lite features a large 4500mAh battery, with 65W SUPERVOOC technology that can charge to 100% in just 31 minutes.
Oppo also had their own Smart Power Saving tech, which they claim can smartly optimise between battery life and performance, for more than a single day of power.
As a cost saving measure, Oppo have removed wireless charging, however is still remains with the regular and Pro models.
Colours
The Oppo Find X5 will be available in two colours:
- Startrails Blue
- Starry Black
