Samsung is continuing its winning formula with the Samsung Galaxy A53

The Galaxy A series has proven a massive hit for Samsung, monopolising the budget to mid range phone market in the last few years. The latest Samsung Galaxy A53 has leaked in full, with a similar design to the recently leaked Galaxy A23.

Samsung appears to have made incremental improvements to the A52, hoping to continue its success with the winning formula.

  • Plastic design in black or white
  • 8 core Exynos 1200 up to 2.4GHz with 5G
  • 6GB / 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, expandable up to 1TB via microSD
  • 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with 2400 x 1080 pixels and a 120 Hertz refresh rate
  • Underscreen fingerprint scanner
  • Quad cameras - 64 MP, 12 MP, 5 MP, 5 MP
  • Front 32 MP camera
  • 5000mAh battery with 25W Quick Charging
  • Weighs 189g and is 8.1mm thick

The front of the A53 sports a large 6.5 inch Super AMOLED panel with 2400 x 1800 pixels at a speedy 120Mhz refresh rate. The top features a pinhole cutout for the generous 32 MP selfie camera. Under the display, there’s also an invisible fingerprint sensor.

Unlike the previous Galaxy A52 with a Snapdragon chip, the A53 will use Samsung’s own chip with the Exynos 1200, with a total of 8 cores running at a maximum of 2.4GHz. We expect there to be a minor but noticeable improvement in performance.

The A53 will also come in 6GB or 8GB RAM, depending on the region and expected price point. The starting model will come with 128GB internal storage, with a microSD card for additional storage up to 1TB.

The A53 appears to wear an all plastic design, with medium sized bezels around the flat display. At launch, the A53 will come in white and black, but we expect more colours following its official release.

On the rear, there’s a quad camera setup, with a main 64 MP camera coupled with a 12 MP ultrawide lens. There are also dual 5 MP cameras for portrait and macro shots. Similar to the premium design of the Galaxy S22, the camera bump blends in with the sleek design, and doesn’t extrude too much.

In theory, the large 5000mAh should provide more than a day of battery life with everyday usage. We can also expect Quick Charging up to 25W via the USB C port.

Samsung will most likely announce the Samsung Galaxy A53 in the next few months, with a launch in time for summer. We're expending a mid-range price point around £350.
