Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A53 is already on sale in some markets, despite no official announcement from the South Korean company.

According to GSMArena, the Samsung Galaxy A53 has been on sale in Serbia from 7th March, and now retail units have made their way to several Kenyan stores, priced at around £300. However, we don’t expect the official UK price to be so cheap, and will most likely cost around the £400 mark.

Samsung are expected to officially announce the Galaxy A53 at their upcoming Awesome Galaxy A event on 17th March, alongside other budget phones in the Galaxy A series.

The Galaxy A53 will be a follow up to one of Samsung’s best selling phones last year, the Samsung Galaxy A52s. The mid-range device has proven to be a major hit, with many of the features from the previous flagship Galaxy S21, but at a much lower price. However, Samsung will have tough competition to beat with the latest iPhone SE (2022) - the first budget phone from Apple to have 5G connectivity. As both devices will cost around the same, Samsung may struggle to have the same success it had with the Galaxy A52s.

With the A53, Samsung will be switching to its own chip, the Exynos 1200. The previous A52s used Qualcomm’s technology with the Snapdragon 778G 5G.

Apart from the new processor, Samsung aren’t changing much. There’ll be the same quad camera setup, featuring a 64 MP, f/1.8 wide camera, 12 MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera, 5 MP f/2.4 macro camera and 5 MP f/2.4 depth camera. However, the battery will be increased by 10%, from 4500mAh to 5000mAh. The phone will be available in several storage and memory variants:

  • 128GB storage, 6GB RAM
  • 128GB storage, 8GB RAM
  • 256GB storage, 8GB RAM
  • 256GB storage, 12GB RAM

The Samsung Galaxy A53 will most likely ship with One UI 4.1 (Android 12). Samsung recently promised 4 major Android updates, and 5 years of security updates.
