Google Pixel 7 renders revealed in new leaks

The Google Pixel 6 has barely been out for 4 months, and yet we already have a look at the next Google Pixel 7.

The new leaks reveal a familiar phone, within a similar design to the Google Pixel 6. This is a design language Google have used for several of their previous Pixel phones, and seem committed to.

Google Pixel 7 Pro leak

One leak shows the Google Pixel 7 Pro, with an array of 3 cameras on the back. The report suggests the large horizontal strip will feature a main wide angle camera, a periscope telephoto camera and ultrawide camera. The camera bump remains, whereas the Apple iPhone 14 is rumoured to completely remove the camera bump. Both phones are expected to release around the same time, so the Google Pixel 7 design may look outdated in comparison to the Apple iPhone 14 upon release.

The display will be slightly increased from 6.7 inch to 6.8 inch, with an OLED panel that will reportedly challenge the excellent display on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The pinhole cutout for the selfie camera remains intact, at the top of the display.

The phone will also be slightly slimmer. The Google Pixel 6 Pro is 8.9mm thick, whereas the Google Pixel 7 Pro will be 0.2mm thinner at 8.7mm. Dimensions remain roughly the same, at 163 x 76.6 x 8.7mm.

Another leak shows the regular Google Pixel 7. Again, there’s not much to say except it looks similar to the Google Pixel 6. It will also be slightly smaller, at 155.6mm x 73.1mm x 8.7mm compared to the previous 158.6 x 74.8 x 8.9 mm.

The news phones will be updated to the Google Tensor 2, Google’s second generation proprietary chip, with a Titan M2 security chip.

Overall, the leaks suggest the Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro will be an incremental upgrade, rather than a full overhaul. Those hoping for a full refresh will have to wait another year.

We expect the Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro to be released in October 2022.
