The Magic 4 Lite is meant to be a cheaper version of the Magic 4 Pro, however Honor have managed to keep the flapship features of the Pro model with minimal compromises.
For the price, the Honor Magic 4 Lite might be one of the best mid-range phones this year. It ticks all the boxes, with a quad 64MP camera, massive 4800 mAh battery and super-fast Snapdragon chip.
Display
Despite the Lite branding, the Honor Magic 4 Lite certainly doesn’t skimp when it comes to the display.
The near bezel less front features a large 6.81 inch panel with a narrow screen to body ratio at 94%.
The IPS LCD display has an adjustable 90Hz refresh rate, for minimal flickering and smooth scrolling. Coupled with a touch sampling rate of 180Hz, the screen reacts instantaneously to user input, with no delay.
Performance
The Honor Magic 4 Lite features the Snapdragon 680 chip from Qualcomm, which is a mid to high range processor that delivers excellent performance for everyday usage.
With 6GB RAM, there’s plenty of memory for all your multitasking needs. You can open multiple apps that won’t shut down in the background, allowing you to switch between apps without having to wait for a refresh.
Camera
The quad 64MP camera is one of the largest we’ve seen on a phone. Honor has included its own AI technology and algorithms, allowing the camera to take full advantage of the large sensor for great shots and excellent video recording.
As well as automatic adjustments, Honor has included several preset scenes that you choose from, as well as the ability to manually edit the camera controls to produce a desired look.
Operating System
The Honor Magic 4 Lite ships with Android 11, with a customised skin called Magic UI 4.2. Honor has promised at least 2 major updates for the Magic 4 Lite, with additional years for security updates.
Design
The Honor Magic 4 Lite has an almost identical design to the Honor Magic 4 Pro, featuring an elegant all metal frame with small bezels and a smooth finish.
Just like the Pro model, the Magic 4 Lite also has the same circle enclosing the camera array on the back. The unique design has become a trademark of Honor’s flagship phones.
Battery life
Even though the Magic 4 Lite is considered a step down from the Pro model, the battery actually has a larger capacity at 4800 mAh, which is a 6.5% increase.
You won’t need to charge the Magic 4 Lite often thanks to the large battery, however when you do, there’s 66W fast charging technology, which can charge the battery to 81% in just 30 minutes. There’s even a 66W USB-C charger in the box.
Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging with the Lite model.
Colours
The Honor Magic 4 Lite comes in three colours:
- Ocean Blue
- Midnight Black
- Titanium Silver
