VOXI, a subsidiary network by Vodafone, has claimed to be the first UK network to launch a LLM generative AI chatbot.

In a press release, VOXI says the chatbot will enhance user experience and converse with customers in human-like interactions.

The chatbot will initially be made available to a small number of VOXI customers to test the waters, followed by a gradual rollout - assuming a successful trial.

The chatbot is being launched in collaboration with Accenture, an IT consulting company, and will be powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT. In November last year, OpenAI launched a feature that allows users to create their own version of ChatGPT, by supplying their own data to train the model. It’s likely VOXI is taking advantage of this feature with their own chatbot.

VOXI has been running a rather primitive and basic chatbot for a few years, which can only regurgitate information from the helpdesk. VOXI also do not have any call centres - the only way to talk to a real human is to persist with the chatbot to get a real customer representative to join the conversation, essentially starting a live chat.

VOXI did not disclose whether the new ChatGPT-powered chatbot will replace jobs in the future - although that likely is the eventual plan.
