Oppo’s latest flagship, the Find X5 Pro, has been receiving rave reviews across the board, thanks to its fast performance, unique design and good camera.

However, the Oppo Find X5 Pro uses the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, which has been plagued by battery life and overheating issues with other flagship phones that use the same processor, such as the Samsung Galaxy S22.

Although there are currently no reports of overheating or battery life issues with the Find X5 Pro, Oppo appear to be taking precautions with their new Ice-Skin cooling case.

Oppo claims the new case is able to lower the temperature of the Find X5 Pro by 2 to 3 degrees celsius, allowing for greater performance without throttling.

The new case uses a special hydrogel layer, which has been developed over several years by Wuhan University in China. The modified hydrogel technology is able to re-absorb moisture multiple times at low atmospheric temperatures, resulting in a circular cooling system.

The case design follows a familiar pattern commonly used with gaming accessories, such as external heatsinks with multiple grooves. Given gaming on a phone often results in high temperatures, the design of the case is well suited for its most likely audience.

The case is currently available to pre-order in Chinese markets. There’s no word for a UK release yet, however multiple other cases for the Oppo Find X5 Pro are available to purchase from the official Oppo UK store, including a kevlar case.
